Title: Herpes zoster (shingles) scar
Post by: Arachne on March 29, 2012, 07:22:23 AM
I had herpes zoster (ophthalmic shingles) in October 2011. I was left with two large and deeply indented scars, each around 5mm diameter on my forehead. Other less severe scars have faded and filled in to an acceptable level, but these two larger ones, caused by very thick scabs over lesions that had clustered together during the illness, still look like craters and are disfiguring.

On January 2, I started using a dermastamp (the longer-needle type) once every three weeks, as per instructions on this site. I have now completed five sessions and see no improvement. Is it too soon to expect results, and does anyone have any experience or advice concerning shingles scars? Is dermastamping in fact a good solution for scars of this type?

Dermastamping is certainly a good solution for this type of scars. You should continue. Your scars may be attached by fibrotic strands to the underlying tissue and that keeps the scar indented. You should combine stamping with an improvised suction method:
