Hi Chantel

I am also treating very similiar scars. Have you thought about using the individual needle? I needled a few (just to see) and I'd say it defnitely made some improvement. I'm very early in my own treatment plan and researching several different approaches that I'm also documenting. I know its frustrating but luckily your scars are very mild so you should see pretty good results. You've came to the right place for support :) best of luck to you!

I've researched your webshop to see if a copper peptide cream was available but unfortunately it is not. I remembered seeing the liquid mask before but was wondering since the mask has the new thicker consistency could it be scooped onto a toothpick and applied into an icepick scar? This was actually one of the reasons I was originally drawn to that "other stuff" from my previous post.  :-[ I'm a little apprehensive to try the ret a only because of the drying effects but if applying it directly into an icepick scar and it helps to fill it in (even partially) actually works, then its worth a try.

OMG Sarah!

I've just read your posts about the super cop2x (that I've used only twice thank goodness) whew! and only on a few scars. Anyway, I'm still interested in using CPs on my icepicks but only real cps not that 2nd generation, skin damaging stuff in my bathroom. Thank you for keeping us informed.

I had that kit for 6mos and never used it for some reason. Tossing it after today.

Hi Sarah

I know its only been about 3 weeks since I used the 1mm dermastamp for the first time. After the swelling went down I could see some smoothness in the texture which is promising and I've seen very noticeable improvement in my skin tone. However, I noticed that while stamping I don't really  "hit" the icepick scars that I have. Since the individual needles are used for targeted treatment would it be too much to add that to my treatment plan? For example use the 1.5mm to stamp all my scars and use the 1.5 roller in the same session wait a week or two then use the individual needles to target those icepicks and then possibly add some copper peptides or would the trentonin be a better choice? I have some super cop2x from another site that I bought months ago and havent used yet. Or should I concentrate on one issue at a time and treat the icepicks later on during my treatment? I would like to start working on them sooner rather than later because the icepicks bother me quite a bit :-[

Looking forward to your response and as always thank you so very much!

Hi Moe123

I'm also treating some shallow scarring and from the research that I've done from this and other sites that type of scarring yields the fastest and pretty good results :)

What type of scars do you have?

I've read several responses from Sarah where she's recommended various needle lengths. From the pdf instructions the 1mm is for shallow scars but 1.5mm rollers/stamps are supposed to be great for scars because of the longer length needles. The .05mm for rejuvenation and product penetration from my understanding should be used after your skin has recovered from the longer needling (your 1mm roller). Maybe 5-7 days would be a good guess as long as your not still peeling from your roller.

I'll be ordering a .05mm myself since I recently dropped and damaged mine :( But I do plan on using it either once or twice a week (about a week after) I've used my 1.5 derma stamp/roller.

Best of luck on your treatment Moe123:) your at the right place to learn how to fix your scars.

Happy Healing!

Hi Sypherr,

I just read your last post. I've just started documenting my derma stamping/rolling progress and this is what I'm doing or planning to do:
Like you, I'm dealing with shallow scarring (boxcar, some linear scars, and a few icepicks that aren't too deep) I have the 1mm stamp, 1.5 stamp, and the 1.5 roller). I may have too much but I feel like I end up using everything during my treatment. I've used the 1mm stamp already and stamped my scars 7-10 times. My scars are pretty localized all on my upper cheeks so I move the stamp around a bit (straight in not at an angle)  to make suree that I'm not hitting the same spot several times. You hear some popping sounds as your breaking up the scar tissue and it may bleed some. The area I treated swells a little and I get red. I ALWAYS apply the vitamin C serum wait about 30 mins and apply the Infoladan ointment for about 3 days after rolling. I'll repeat this same procedure every 4-5weeks  but next time I'll use my 1.5 stamp then roll with the 1.5 roller. Personally, I think the vitamin c is very important so I take it interally along with the serum. I wouldn't keep the roller in the cleaning solution. I used dish soap to clean it after use and then soak in a sterilizing solution for about 15 mins. I soak for 15 mins again before I use it as well. Sorry about the typos but continue to research as well there's just so much info out there about needling. Hope I helped some :)

Happy Healing!!

Thank you Sarah for the encouragement. I would be thrilled even if some of these scars filled in. I'll admit that I'm not totally new to the concept of needling. I bought my first dermaroller (.05mm) back in 2010 when I first starting looking for scar reduction treatments. But it took me a whole year to use it because I was afraid that I was going to make my situation worse. I felt like I struck gold once I found this site. I've learned so much from owndoc.com :)

I used the 1mm dermastamp late Friday evening. I was pretty aggressive and was really red for about 2days but my normal color is starting to come back. I know some of what I'm seeing is actually microswelling but my overall complexion looks pretty healthy!

This is a pic of my right cheek that has the icepick/boxcar scarring. Its a little shiny from the Infoladan. I really like that stuff. I will post again in a few weeks just before I do my next treatment.

Happy Healing Everyone ;)

Hi Stephh,

Obviously I'm not Sarah but I've came across your post a couple of  times while I was as you call it "lurking" on this forum as well. LoL. Just like you,  I've started to take serious steps to improve the scarring that was left from my many years of acne. I've been left with some mild to moderate scars on my upper cheeks that sounds like they could be similar to yours. Straight on the scars aren't that noticeable but at an angle and in certain lighting...OMG! It also has negatively affected so many areas of my life  :'( anyway no need to feel sorry for ourselves let's do something about this right?!

From other posts that I've read, Sarah usually recommends 1.5mm dermastamp and 1.5 dermaroller for scars (acne scarring). 1mm treats shallow scarring but it still may be a good starting place just until you know how your skin reacts to needling. She has also recommended the single needles to some but don't make the mistake I've made and use the diabetic lancets. I've made a couple of my scars wider (but shallower too..if that makes any sense) She also has advised others to get the .05mm dermaroller for overall texture improvement.

Since you are interested in keeping things simple, how about the 1mm dermastamp and if all goes well add the 1mm dermaroller and go from there. The dermastamp is actually an awesome tool if you have localized scars like me that are shallow to moderately deep. You may not need the 1.5 stamp/roller after all if your skin responds well to the 1mm. I have the 1mm dermastamp and recently ordered the 1.5mm dermaroller and 1.5 dermastamp because I feel some of my scars just need more aggressive treatment. I like Sarah's advice to treat the skin for 3 nites with the Vit C serum before needling. I've  used the infoladan ointment after rolling/stamping for a few days and surprisingly, the ointment didn't break out my acne prone skin. Actually, it made my skin really soft and gave it a nice glow. Aside from the needling, I'm also making sure that my diet is good enough to help my skin heal. Needling is only half the battle. I must still help my body to help itself. Avoid a lot of sugar, fat, and salt. So a lot of fruits and veggies. Get my protein. Drink ALOT of water daily. Take my vitamins (especially C, E, and Zinc) and some exercise can only help the cause. Doing all of this, I feel like I'm actually forcing some positive results.

Sorry for writing you a book. As you can see I am pretty passionate about skin care. Best of luck with whatever regimen that you decide to use and keep researching when you have the time. There's always so much to learn :) Hope I helped at least a little bit!

Take care!

Hi FuturePerfect,

I know what you mean I also can't wait to start seeing some improvement of my scars. I actually hate how large my pictures are they make my scars look 10 times worse :(

I had read so many negative reviews on laser treatments that I was afraid to try it. Plus as an African American I have a tendency to have alot of hyperpigmentation issues.

I'm going to start my treatments this weekend and the 1st weekend of each month there after. I don't know if age has any impact on wound healing (I'm 40 too) so I plan to space my treatments one month or even 5 weeks apart.

I'll be sure to document my progress regularly and hope that I can get some tips or words of encouragement from Sarah or anyone else that's interested in doing so.  My skin problems has been a long and extremely emotional ordeal so joining this forum, posting my picture online, and being proactive with my treatment is a huge step!

Please keep me posted as well FuturePerfect! Also, good luck to you and everyone else on their journey!

Hello forum,

I've decided to document my treatments of mild/moderate acne scars. I'm female, Africian American, and have suffered from acne since my teen years. I finally got my acne under control with major changes to my diet. Dairy and sugar were not my friends. Although I'd dealt with acne (and occasional cysts)  for such a long time I managed to escape permanent scars in my 20's and most of my 30's. Then I found a spa that I went to for chemical peels and a few treatments of microdermabrasion for my chronic hyperpigmentation. I don't know if it was the spa treatments, the fact that I was stressed and smoking during that time, aging, or a combination of everything but I began to notice texture changes in my skin. Shallow pock marks and indentations on both cheeks. I was horrified and quit going to the spa. This prompted me to begin researching to treat these new skin problems. My scars are mild to moderate and about 4 or 5 yrs old. I'm not quite sure how to classify the scars but at an angle they appear to be shallow "dotted lines" Maybe mild rolling scars and a few icepicks/boxcars? I don't really know.

Thank goodness that I've found this site. I've created a protocol based on research and advice that Sarah has given to others with similar scars. I have the vitamin c for serum, infoladan, 1mm dermastamp, 1.5mm dermastamp, and 1.5mm dermaroller. I plan to stamp and roll my scars once monthly. I am concentrating on my hyperpigmentation and deeper scars first then possibly make changes to my treatments depending on how my skin responds. I've given up smoking for good, working out more, improving my diet to incorporate green smoothies, lots of water, vitamins, and getting enough sleep. I feel pretty good about this journey and hope I can improve my face. I've suffered with skin problems long enough!

Hello forum!

FuturePerfect, after reading your post and viewing your picture I had to register and reply as well because like Geijutsu12 my scars are very similar.  My scarring is a little "weird" for lack of a better word. If you look at them straight on they appear to be small ice picks or scarred pores. But when I turn my head and look at them in good lighting, you can see the scars are actually lines (like dotted lines or scarred pores within the scars itself) I know it sounds crazy! LoL! But I thought that I had buried scars because they look so different at an angle. Anyway, after reading tons posts, the dermarolling instructions, and really taking in Sarah's awesome advice, I finally ordered the 1.5 stamp and 1.5 roller. Received the roller yesterday but still waiting on the stamp. I plan on submitting photos and documenting my progress as well. My scarring isn't severe so I'm expecting good results:) Best wishes to all also on the journey towards scarfree skin!!
