Hi--

Good information here.  I have a small raised vertical scar (car accident) on my upper lip; it's about 25 years old. Is it too old to dermaroll?

Also, I'd like to know the origin of two deep wrinkles on my chin, each beginning 1 inch below and to the sides of my mouth. They began to emerge about six years ago, and have grown longer and deeper since. A few people have remarked that they look like scars, and one did get its start as  such. i wish I could send a picture, but cannot do so now--no phone. I am extremely sensitive about these, as well as a deep downward groove at the right side of my mouth, which I needle once a week with a 1.5, with tretinoin.

If the downturned wrinkle does not respond within a year, I guess I'll have to save for filler. Ditto the horizontal things, which I have seen on a few other people since I first became aware of them. If they can be paralyzed w/o hampering more normal mouth movements, I'll save for Botox as well (why won't the price go down some??? It's been around forever, and is so common, one would think that the price would drop below 200 dollars an area.....)

If you could hit a few  anatomy/physiology texts, or cosmetic surgeons, to discover what is going on w/ the chin wrinkles, I'd be very much in your debt.

Thank you for this forum.

--ooooooohhhHHHHHH. Break down peptide bonds. Not good. Not good at all. Will stop with the meat tenderizer yesterday. Thank you for the info.

New here. Rolling w/ highest concentration tretinoin cream for a month; tone and color much better, but sagging and deep wrinkling as yet unaffected (did read Sarah's instructions, which addressed this issue satisfactorily; I'm simply impatient, I guess).

On a wild hair, and w/ some biochemistry background, I mixed up a scrub of meat tenderizer and OTC glycerin, which I use while in the tub. Using a brush to scrub this off was irritating, even though my skin is pretty resilient by now. Alone, though, this seemed to yield a nice, refined result.

Can anyone tell me if this practice might have a future bad result?

:(I'm a 48-y/o Caucasian woman, and five years ago, many ppl (albeit w/ no background in cosmetic procedures) thought I was in my early 30's. The last five years seem to have changed that; to may chagrin, ppl who are, IMO, rude enough to venture a guess at my chronological age do so more accurately. I've been rolling, w/ tretinoin, for a month, and am doing my best to visually reclaim some youthfulness.

My vitals are as follows: long hx of drug and alcohol abuse (clean 2 yrs); economically challenged :( long-term weight fluctutaions w/in 20 lbs of my ideal weight (145 lbs/5'8"). My health is good, I have never smoked cigarettes, and had a couple of bad sunburns before the age of 18, w/ one accidental burn around 30; otherwise, I've used sunscreen and cosmeceuticals when I could afford to do so. One run of Botox in a clinical trial.

My mid-face and neck seem to give my age away. (I also have grooves at the corners of my mouth, giving it the appearance of a perma-frown, and two roughly horizontal lines on either side of the perma-frown, about 1-1/2" below it. No way to send pics right now. Derma-Blend does not adequately address these, but I hope single-needle rolling will.)

Also supplement with 1 g Vitamin C and 800 units of E. I try to eat caretinoids in my diet. What else can I do, as surgical intervention will likely never be an option?

Much thanks,

juliad

Hello--

I'm a newbie. Started rolling 2 weeks ago w/ above supplies. Am 48, have downturned mouth and lines, 'elevens', and some sagging of lower two-thirds of face and neck. (Have been a paleface--Scotch/Irish genes, lots of night work and sunscreens since teens; a couple of bad sunburns as a kid and once, by accident, at thirty. Frequent 15-20 lb. weight fluctuations; history of drug use and heavy drinking from 15 to 45--clean of all now. Teeth need some help. Am health nazi--to the extent that I can afford it. Lots of vitamins, esp. C, E and A in food.) How soon can I expect to see some results?  Skin tone has begun to improve; am rosy and even. However, my mouth lines and a couple of vaguely horizontal lines near my chin that look like scars (unsure of origin; do not see this on many other women) have done nothing to date. Any assistance? Thank you so much. juliad
