Title: Recommendations for new shingles scars - scabs came off 3 weeks ago
Post by: April on April 18, 2013, 09:41:22 PM
I recently suffered a bout with shingles on my forehead.  When the scabs came off, I was left with a few small scars and one large one above my eyebrow.  The small ones are easy to cover with makeup, but the large one is really difficult to look at!  It is quite deep and large (about 1 cm tall and maybe more than 1 mm deep in places)  I'm trying to attach a picture.  Please give your recommendations on products to use.  I'm considering the 1 or 1.5 dermastamp and would like to know if I should use the suction as well.  I've been inspired by a couple others on here that used these products for shingles scars (one of whom is featured on your website.  His scars do look a little different than mine though so I'd like your recommendation on products.

A new development has come up regarding me possibly starting the dermastamp/suction.  I will be having a baby within two weeks, and found out yesterday, that because of a previous superficial blood clot, I will be on Lovanox blood thinner for 4 weeks after birth.   Because blood thinners can cause excess bleeding/bruising of course it is common sense that I wait to start these products after that period is over.

I still really want advice based on the photo I submitted on which stamp I should use and if I should incorporate the suction at the beginning.

I will be more than happy to submit monthly photos documenting my progress to help anyone else out there recovering from shingles scars on their face.

I think this could work - I'm a little disappointed that I will have to wait 4-6 more weeks because of the blood thinner, but excited to have the products ready to go if I could get some advice if based on my photo if you think the dermastamp/suction could work for me.

Thank you so much!

Congratulations to mother-to-be and good luck to you!

Shingles are caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus.

Your choice of a 1.5 mm dermastamp is very good. Buy the one with 35 needles and stamp the scars densely every three weeks. If you get no improvement after six months of stamping, add the suction pump because some of these type of scars may be tethered.

There is no problem with waiting for several more weeks. If the scars are fresh, they will likely still improve a little by themselves. Also, if you had the shingles very recently, it is wiser to wait anyway to be sure, that the infection is completely gone before you start stamping.

If you later submit "after" photos, that would be great. Thank you!
