Dermarolling / Microneedling / Brown spots and rollersize!
« on: July 22, 2011, 04:42:37 PM »
You can use any size dermaroller any time you want, even every day but do not use it on the same skin area. Roll each time a different skin area. If you do not push the needles in too much, you can roll the same skin area more frequently than is in our instructions.

   Concerning a ten-row dermaroller:

The fewer needles a dermaroller has, the deeper they penetrate and the easier they get into the skin. The reason why fakirs can lay down on a bed of nails is that there are many nails the pressure gets evenly distributed and becomes to small to penetrate the skin.

It takes more time to roll a large area with a five-row roller but the needles penetrate deeper and easier. It is already quite difficult to make even one needle penetrate the skin because the skin is a very tough, protective organ.

Yes, you can use the single needles on your brown spots but not every three days.

Needle them densely every three weeks. If you do not needle deep, then needle every two weeks. If the pigment is in the epidermis, it will be easier to improve. If the pigment is in the dermis (deeper skin layer) it will be very difficult. Pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) normally reside at the bottom of the epidermis only. Sometimes the membrane between the epidermis and the dermis gets damaged and some melanocytes sink deeper and produce melanin in the dermis. It is hard to solve.

Usually, the pigmentation is in the epidermis and a 1.5 mm dermaroller is unnecessarily long. Using a 0.5 mm size is sufficient.

Pigmentation spots very often reappear as soon as they are exposed to the sun.

If you have brown spots you should definitely use the A-Ret gel - it speeds up the turnover of the skin and vit. C serum -it is an antioxidant that will partially prevent further sun damage including the formation of brown spots and it is a mild skin lightener if used long-term.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / Acne and Dermarolling

You can use a 1.5 mm dermaroller but if your goal is to treat that particular spot only, then a 1.5 mm dermastamp would target it better. That bump may be scar tissue.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / what kind of roller can I use?
« on: July 19, 2011, 06:59:33 PM »
Use a 0.5 mm dermaroller twice a week (or a 0.2 mm roller every second day) in combination with a regular (not narrow) 1.5 mm dermaroller (used every 3 weeks). Use them both on the entirety of your face (however, a dermaroller cannot be used on the upper eyelids though due to the risk of injury).

The upper lip area is the most sensitive of the face. I can use a dermaroller without numbing cream anywhere on my face and body, with the exception of the area above the lip.

It is easier to roll the area above the lip with a narrow roller but it is also possible (when you get accustomed to using a dermaroller) to roll it with a regular one. Using a regular size roller will save you from buying yet another roller. You can always buy a narrow one later.

Since you have couperose, do not buy the A-Ret gel.

You can try using Infadolan around the eyes. Some of our customers wrote us that their wrinkles are much less pronounced after using Infadolan around the eyes. Apply just a little.

You should use the vit. C serum but make it very weak (low concentration) to avoid any potential irritation of the couperose skin.

Unfortunately, a dermaroller will not help with the couperose. You could try vascular laser for that.

You can improve acne or other scars with dermarolling or needling but there is currently no method that can significantly and permanently reduce pore size. Pores are ducts in the skin and their size is in the genes. As we age the pore size increases. Only a few customers reported a mild improvement in pore size with dermarolling. They had acne prone, oily skin. I would recommend you to buy a 0.2 mm dermaroller (used every second day) and a 1.5 mm dermastamp  (treat scars every 3 weeks). Use the vit. C serum as explained in our instructions. Do not buy Infadolan. You can try using salicylic acid products. It goes deep into the pores and cleans them if used long term and frequently. However, I think that the worsening of your skin is likely due to hormonal imbalance after the hysterectomy and being left with one ovary only.  Sex hormones play a big role in acne and oily skin. You should be checked for hormonal levels and have the imbalance treated.

No, you do not have to stay always out of the sun. Just protect your skin as much as you can a few days after dermarolling with long needles - you can go outside but use a hat and a sunscreen and do not purposely sunbathe for a couple of days.

Sun damage is the main cause of (premature) skin aging so you should use a sunscreen and avoid baking in the sun anyway to prevent sun damage. Whether you use a dermaroller or not..

Nevertheless, do not completely shelter yourself from the sun in general. Sunshine is our most efficient source of vit. D, which forms in the skin upon sun exposure.
Vit. D is very important for many reasons including proper functioning of our immune system - crucial to remain healthy.
Do not excessively sunbathe but every now and then, expose yourself for about 15 minutes to the sun with lots of naked skin to get enough vit. D.
If you have dark skin, you need to stay about three times longer in the sun as dark skin functions as natural sun protection.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / Best Skin Care Routine

Yes, you can apply any cream half an hour later or probably even sooner.

Just let the vit. C absorb before you apply a cream.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / pitted scars
« on: July 19, 2011, 05:55:43 PM »
No, it is not necessary to get the stamp, you can use the single needle for that. Single needling is suitable to needle long and wide stretch marks or scars. No problem.

1464
It can take up to two weeks if you needle really deeply and densely but normally it takes just a couple of days.

You should protect the needled skin from the sun as much as you can for a week. You can go outside or swim but do not purposely sunbathe. It is mainly to avoid hyperpigmentation. Use a sunscreen lotion on the area even after one week.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / Make-up recommendations?
« on: July 19, 2011, 05:53:31 PM »
Unfortunately I do not have any experience with foundations - hopefully someone on the forum can advise you.

I think using A-Ret (Tretinoin) should keep acne in control.

Yes, you can use salicylic acid peels in between dermarollings. Salicylic acid gets deep into the pores and cleans them if used frequently and long-term.

I will get back to you concerning the percentage of such a peel because I don't know everything :-)

Salicylic acid products for acne contain about 2% active ingredient and the products for psoriasis usually contain about 5% but those are not peels, just creams for daily application.

1466
No it is not necessary but it will remove the residues.

Just rinse the face with water in the morning or clean your face like you normally do in the morning with the cleansing product of your choice.

1467
I have never experienced this with dermarolling. It sometimes happens after single needling and the color goes back to normal when it is completely healed. It is just a normal reaction in the process of wound healing.

You should apply vit. C in the evening. Vit. C is light sensitive. Wash it off in the morning.

Vit. C doesn't oxidize that quickly. Do a test.  Leave vit. C serum in a transparent, open bottle at room temperature or outside and when it turns yellow, it is very much oxidized.

If you want to mix it with something, then Glycerin would be a better choice than oil in case of water-soluble vit. C.

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate = Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate.

The study talked about Ascorbyl-6-palmitate.   Ascorbyl-6-palmitate and Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is more or less the same thing.

Dermarolling / Microneedling / Disinfecting the roller
« on: July 17, 2011, 06:03:38 AM »
It contains oils and that is not a good idea for disinfection.  It is probably an after-shave product or it is intended for massaging overworked muscles/painful joints.

Since more and more customers are experiencing difficulties in finding an appropriate disinfecting solution, in Autumn we will start selling a powder (to be mixed with water) for dermaroller and skin disinfection. That product will also be suitable to treat active acne with.
