Hey Sarah just sending some updated pics... The first is taken in natural light and the second is taken under bright lights in a room...these pics are after 4 sessions of dermastamping... It has been 3 months exactly as of today...

Congratulations with your weight loss. It is hard..

Yes, the scars, wrinkles and lines may look worse because there is no better plumping material than your own fat.

Basically, you either have to sacrifice your face or your butt. Meaning, if you want to have a naturally wrinkle-free face, you basically have to be at least moderately obese (= big butt).  As soon as your butt shrinks, say goodbye to the plumpness of the face. It's not fair, is it?

My remark about make-up and infection was from 2010 and from our experience since, this is not really an issue because there are no infections happening. In 2010 when dermarolling method was hardly known, I was very conservative in that regard.

Nevertheless, I had and have other reasons to advise not to use makeup shortly after microneedling with long needles, unless you really have to. Make-up usually dries out the skin and the skin should be kept moisturized as much as you can after microneedling, until it heals. So make sure your makeup does not dry out the skin and apply a cream underneath the makeup.

You probably agree with me that when you for example get a strong sunburn, applying makeup on it is certainly not an optimal solution.

My advice is what I consider optimal. So, after rolling with such long needles on Friday, do not apply makeup until at least Sunday morning, especially if the skin is still "raw" from the session on Friday. If you have to apply makeup, then apply it.

For the time being, I recommend buying our 0.5% Tretinoin cream and applying it every second day for at least eight weeks. It should unclog your pores and help diminish acne and post acne spots (do not apply it around the eyes and right underneath the nose but also apply it on your nose because you have clogged pores).  Tretinoin dries out the skin so you have to moisturize a lot. If the skin gets too irritated, reduce the frequency to three times a week. A pea size amount of the cream is enough for the entire face.

Buy also our 1.5 mm dermastamp with 35 needles (we are sold out now but we hopefully have them at the end of this week) and stamp the worst of your scars densely every three weeks. You have just minor scars.

Please email me with photos after you will have used Tretinon for at least eight weeks. It is a bit difficult to judge whether your uneven skin relief is caused mainly by scars or it is mainly pigmentation, clogged pores and just a few scars.  Depending how it looks after Tretinoin, you would or would not add a 1.5 mm regular dermaroller.

Forum member "richierich" who started this thread allowed us to post his emails to us and his photo. I almost fell off my chair when I read he wil soon be 55 because he looks much younger!

We decided not to post his photo in Disneyland because it included his three beautiful daughters and they may not like to be on our forum so we asked "richierich" for a photo of just himself. He looks amazing! We hope he will tell us what exactly improved and what he uses.

I think that your overall skin texture is much smoother and your scars are slowly getting shallower (see the red circled scars). For someone who has micro-needled his face only a few times, you got good results.

You are unfortunate with getting the hyperpigmentation but hopefully this will improve soon with tretinoin and hydroquinone.

I think you bought more than what you strictly need for a successful treatment of acne scars, but never mind.

From our experience, a combination of a dermastamp and a dermaroller was more successful in treating scars than a dermaroller alone so I suggest you include the dermastamp and/or the single needles in each session.

If you have lots of scars, spread out the treatment so that you can do it thoroughly and densely. During the same session, stamp the scars of one cheek (and the temple for example) with your 2 mm dermastamp and then roll the entire cheek with your 1.5 mm dermaroller. Keep the treated area moisturized until it heals. Do not fully insert the needles of your 2 mm dermastamp in the temple area because the skin is relatively thin there. Insert just the tips. When it heals, treat the other cheek etc.

You can use your 0.2 and your 0.5 mm dermarollers in between your sessions, with the gaps you planned. Frequent rolling with shorter needles is especially useful for acne prone skin, post acne pigmentations or other uneven skin tone problems.

When your 1.5 mm dermaroller gets blunt and when you are experienced with dermarolling, you can replace the 1.5 mm one with your 2 mm dermaroller (when you roll the temples, do not push the needles in).

Prior to your session, try the 2 mm dermastamp on a small area of your face to see how it reacts and how it heals.

Don't worry, those bumps are not scars. Getting bumps after microneedling is not a common reaction but sometimes the skin can react like that. The bumps will disappear.

We have for example a customer who suddenly got bumps after the fifth rolling. So, it can happen any time but the bumps are harmless.   

Make sure to rinse the microneedling instruments with tap water after you clean them with dishwashing detergent.  (And remember that cleaning is not the same as disinfection - that's a separate stage).

It will last roughly six months. It also depends how large the area is that you are going to roll.

Tretinoin dries out the skin, so apply a moisturizer prior to Tretinoin and also in between.

No, on the contrary, a dermastamp can absolutely never cause microtearing, because you never move it horizontally - only vertically.

Hi Sarah

Just emailing a little update... It has been two weeks since my fourth dermastamping session... Most of the inflammation has gone... I'm actually finding that I have to look up close to see the smaller stretch marks so I'm really happy about that... The larger ones I can tell the texture is so much better so I'm pretty sure that with some more sessions the width should decrease... I will email some photos when all inflammation is gone . Thank you for all of your help! Can't wait to start single needling !
