Chicken Pox Scar
« on: January 10, 2013, 02:53:42 AM »
Hi Sarah. I have been reading up on needling for chicken pox scar in this forum for about 2 weeks now. You see, I am middle age now and have had a few bad scars on my forehead from chicken pox which its last scab fell off about a month and 10 days ago. One of them exactly on the top of my nose bridge, starting of my eye brow on the right side. Can't possibly do laser as it will burn off that part of my eye brow. The only best thing to do will be needing. I finally decided to register and clear some of my doubts before taking the plunge. Would appreciated if you help to answer my questions below:-

1. When is the best time to start needling? How long should I wait before starting then?

2. Can I start putting copper petite on the scars now?

3. I plan to do single needling on the scars. Is this the best option?

4. What skin regime do you suggest that I adopt for the time being?

I hope I didn't come across as long winded. I'm really frustrated for having these scar.

Thank you in advance for helping to answer my queries.

The scars may still improve a little by themselves. Wait about 8 weeks from their formation.

Yes, you can start applying the copper peptides now.

I recommend a 1.5 mm dermastamp with 35 needles. Stamp densely every three weeks.

If the scars do not improve after several months of stamping, add the suction method because they may be tethered to the underlying tissues:

Concerning your nose. From our dermarolling instructions:

"Scars on the nose All invasive skin treatments on the nose are risky because this area reacts and heals unpredictable and it can end up worse. You can try a 1 mm dermastamp but never perform any aggressive stamping here. Start slowly and try one small area first."

If you buy a 1.5 mm stamp, you do not have to buy a 1 mm as well.  Just do not insert the full length of the needles. Be always extremely gentle and careful on the nose and if the scars are not very bad, do not even risk treating them.

Thanks for your advise Sarah. However I have another question. I have Retinol A serum.  Is it better to apply Retinol A than copper peptite since the scar is not opened from any needling yet?

Do you mean Retin A (containing tretinoin = retinoic acid)?

You can apply both peptides and Retin A but not on the same day. Apply them in turns. Applying Retin A three times a week is enough.

Dear Sarah, since my chicken pox scars are single indented box scars quite for apart from each other, I was wondering that after needling, while should I use immediately, Copper peptide + Hyaluronic acid serum 30 ml / 1 fl. oz. or Copper peptide mask?

Could you give some instruction on how to use them for my case?

The serum is better in your case. You can apply it right after stamping. It may sting a little.

You can also try using Tretinoin cream (we sell it) in a way that is described here:

Do not apply the copper peptides and vit. C at the same time:
